Fun in New Mexico

Ever since we moved to New Mexico there has been tons of stuff to do. There are birdies outside in our yard. I like the quail the best, but the doves are the easiest to catch (if we were just able to get outside). We have gotten more toys for the inside as well. I just love my sleeping tower. It is so comfy and can only hold me and NO sister!

Berry love New Mexico because there is lots of sun she can sleep in.

Also we get away with just about everything we do. When Easter came around Berry decided that the Easter baskets looked like the best bed/play space she ever saw. I just couldn't believe she would do such a thing. But as always she entertains me to no end!

And the best part about living in New Mexico is that we have love, food, and toys!!

Spring Break

Tomorrow starts the week of Spring Break! This means Mommy will stay home with us all day. Well, she has to work 3 days, but other than that she will be home playing with us all day. She has been really busy with school the last few weeks, so I am really happy that she will be all mine, and Berry's, over the next few days.

Life is pretty good in our new house. We have been here about a month now. We have just about furred up everything there is to fur. There are new closets and storage areas to explore every day. And I can climb to the very top of the kitchen, above the fridge! And the closets have lots of shelves so I can climb up very high there also. Its funny when Daddy comes in to get clothes in the morning and I jump down on him. He gets really scared. The only bad thing about the new house is that there is no backyard. We cannot go out anymore, but there are lots of windows. Its not the same, but it works.

Today is my 5th birthday! Can you believe I am 5??? Today is going to be a good day. I am going to take many naps and get lotsa good foods, and lotsa loves. This morning I played with Daddy and Berry. I got 4 new balls for my birthday, my other play balls got washed in the washer and are not so good now. I like my new balls, they bounce high and are fun to play with on the stairs.

Earlier this month we moved to a new house because the house we were renting went into Foreclosure. It was exciting to move, the new house has lotsa new smells and sounds. And the stairs are really big and fun to play on. One bad thing about the new house is that it doesn't have a backyard and we can't go out anymore. I keep meowing at the front door tying to wear down the parents, but they are staying strong, but they will beak....eventually. Everything else here is petty boring, Mommy is working and going to school and Daddy is just working. But I am having a great birthday day which is the most important thing.

A lot has happened since the last post. First Daddy hurt his finger and Mommy had to take him to the hospital. Nothing major and Daddy came home with a super cool bandage.

Everyday when Daddy gets home we get to go outside to play for 30 min or so. Sometimes it is really windy. I do not like when it is windy because it messes up my beautiful furs. Berry doesn't care what the weather is like.

In the picture below the wind is blowing my furs all over so I have to run inside.

Here I am inside because it is too windy.

Daddy got new tires for his Jeep so the old tires are in our backyard and we get to play on them. Berry likes to play inside them. I like to sit on top of them and plot my escape.

And today is Daddy's birthday!! Mommy made him a cake and we opened presents and they went out to a Mexican restaurant for dinner.

This is the chocolate raspberry cake Mommy made. It looks great but it could use some cheese.

Daddy really loved this birthday cake. He kept making funny noises while eating it. (Mommy here. The cake was chocolate with a raspberry filling, chocolate fudge frosting and fresh raspberries on top.)
All in all November was a great month. Bring on Christmas!! (Berry asks "how many ornaments can I break this year?")

Hunting

Tonight has been prime for bug hunting. We have been sitting outside in the back yard herding buggies into the house to catch. Berry is the best bug hunter I have ever seen. The first bug was caught outside. Berry then took it inside to play with/eat. We have no pictures because she eats the buggies too quickly for pictures. The next bug we both chased into the house. It was then hunted down and Berry ate it again. She didn't even let me play with it. She must have been very hungry. After we herded the third bug into the house, Berry ate that one too by the way, Daddy made us go inside because it was too dark to keep track of Berry. We go out everyday when daddy gets home. I do hope there are lot a bugs out tomorrow night too. Moths are my favorite to play with. Berry likes any and all bugs. Really she likes anything that moves that she can catch. And to Mommy and Daddy's chagrin she always brings anything she catches into the house. Hope everyone has a good buggy night. A secret? If you herd bugs into the house early in the day, you have bugs to play with at night when the hoomans are sleeping.

Halloween

We had a great Halloween here yesterday. First the hoomans carved sum very cool and scary pumpkins. The first carving is a Jayhawk, as in Univ. of Kansas Jayhawks! The school my mommy went to. I, Zoe, think this pumpkin is really cool.

Berry here!! I really like daddy's pumpkin, the mummy in a haunted house! It really scared me the first time I saw it. I was glad that it also scared some candy getters too. At least it is not only me.

We had lots and lots and lots of candy getters last night. We even ran out of candy (well only 3 candy getters didn't get candy. And they were late!!). We both got tired of Halloween so we decided it would be a better use of our time to take a nap. And that is how Halloween at our house ended.

School & Stuff

Mommy has started her school year. Akshully she started a month ago, but has been very busy and not able to write for me. Daddy is not much better. A lot of things have happened since the last blog. the first thing is that Mommy and Daddy bought me a real BED!!

I have had to sleep in a yucky blanket. It was nice and soft and warm but a real bed is much better. I sleep in it every night. Sometimes I have to sleep in my blanket bed because it looks like it is sad and lonely. Berry doesn't sleep in a bed. She likes to sleep in strange places like the floor at the foot of the hoomans bed or on the hoomans bed. They move around too much for me so I like my beds on the floor.

We get to go outside everyday now. We have so much fun.

The hoomans growed us some cat grass and we eat it everyday as soon as we go outside. Did you know there are lota bugs and birds outside? Berry loves to chase them. Flies are her favorite and we have lota flies. She sometimes herds them inside for later. I don't like flies. They are too buggy. Our outside time is great and it happens everyday which is even better!

Mommy and Daddy have been cooking lota good smells in the kitchen. Mommy cooked a yummy smelly chicken.

Berry begged for sum but I just waited until there was sum in my bowl after cleanyup. Mommy can't resist giving us chicken. Daddy just cooked a beef wellington. They shared it with sum gud friends of theirs. We loved them to because one of them is alergic to cats. We love her the best! We did not get any beef wellington though. Daddy kept saying that it was too gud and expensive for kitties. I disagree! The pictures below are proof of our escapades.

Daddy has been spoiling Berry and me since Mommy left. Sometimes he run around the house with a feather tied to a string so we can practice killing birds. Daddy takes us outside so we can chase flies and go the bathroom in the sand.

Houston

Well...Mommy went to Houston again to visit her family. I thought we were her only family but I guess not. I remember my times at the Houston home. They were fun. Mommy is staying there for 2 weeks. Berry and I are left at home with Daddy. Daddy is good...but Mommy gives us better pettings. And Berry doesn't like to lick Daddy's ears. They don't taste as good as Mommy's for some reason. I think it is weird. Anyway...she is away spending time with Sandy and Kink. I like them so its OK. We are having a great time with Daddy. He plays with us all day and feeds us and loves us. What could be better? Mommy calls every night. She has gone swimming and to the aquarium to see penguins. I learned that penguins are a bird. They must taste good. I wish Berry and I could have gone to see penguins also. Yummmm..... When Mommy gets home in 2 weeks she will post pictures she says. She left her computer here with us. We love to sleep on it. it is so warm! I'll keep you updated on everything she does.

Scary Monster Baby

This past weekend we had visitors. One of them was a scary baby. Mommy said he was only 3 months old, but to me he was a big scary monster. He would squeal... alot... and wave his arms. No thank you. I spent most of the weekend up stairs in Mommy and Daddy's room (really my room). The baby stayed here for almost 3 days! It was horrible. he took over the whole house. There was nowhere for me to go. I was getting desperate. I finally told Berry to go and inspect the baby. If she came back unharmed I guess it was safe to walk around downstairs where the baby was. It took 1 day for Berry to say the baby was safe. I had to check for myself. I went downstairs when the baby was sleeping and checked it out. It seemed harmless, especially when it was sleeping. Escape!!

Hello! it's been AGES since I have written, but it is not my fault! Mom has been VERY busy with grad school and said she did not have time to write. So she says. Anyway, lots of exciting things have happened in the last month. For one, I turned four. I can't believe I am four! For my birthday I gots 2 new mousies. Berry has already eated one's tail. I am not letting Berry touch the other mousie.

The most exciting story is that I escaped!! I am very proud. I have been trying to take a look out front for a while now. It was the perfect escape. Mommy and Daddy didn't even know I was gone. So, to start, Daddy was out with his Jeep making room for future groceries, but he did not close the door all the way. Mommy was playing with us upstairs and when she went down, I sneaked down behind her and opened the door further so I could get out. Mommy saw the door and told Daddy, but they thought I was upstairs with Berry. Funny huh? Now they go to the grocery store and I am OUTSIDE!! YAY! But then I wanted in, but no one was home! I had to wait.

Finally, 2 hrs later, Mommy and Daddy came home. Mommy saw me walking around by the front door and jumped out of the car and grabbed me. I was very happy to be inside again. Then they panicked and thought Berry was outside also, but I am a good big sister and did not let her go out. She was asleep upstairs on the tower. During the evening Berry sniffed me lots. Gud outside smels, I gots 'em. That was my big adventure. I will tell you about my other adventures later.

We hope everykitty had a great Valentines Day. Mommy and Daddy didn't do much today. In the morning they each made their own Valentines Day cards. I liked Mommy's better, but Berry liked Daddy's. This afternoon, they went to the beach. But instead of walking on the beach they drove on the beach. There is a spot here where you can drive all over the sand dunes and that is exactly what they did. Mommy said it was a lot of fun. Now they are enjoying a Valentines day treat and champagne. Hope you all have had a great Valentines day!

October has been a busy month for us. Mommy has been very busy with school. And Daddy has been working 0n pereecting his beach bum skills. Actually he has just found a job, which is good because we need our toys. We have finally setteled into our new house. We like it very much. Berry and I love to play Thundering Herd of Elephants on the stairs at 5am. We also carved pumkins!! We have never carved pumpkins before. It is strange. I had Berry check it out incase it was dangerous. It wasn't dangerous, but verey smelly. Daddy gave Berry a pumpkin seed to play with. When she started to eat it mommy took it away. Too bad...I wanted to know what they tast like. Below are some pictures of our busy October.

These are the pumkins that we carved. The one on the right is the one Daddy carved. I think it is a Harry Potter Pirate Pumkin. I like Mommy's pumkin better. (Don't tell Daddy)

Everyone thinks this is a silly plae to sit, but I think it is the best place. I can look out the window and keep an eye on the kitchen.

I think this is a riduclous hiding place, but Berry gets in here everyday. She wants to tell you that it is the best place to hide to jump out at people.

Here we are practiving our balancing act on the banister. I was in here by myself and then Berry jumped in as sat on me so I moved over. She better not jump out or I will fall down the stairs.

This is the best place to sleep on the cold nights. On Mommy's lap on her robe. Best end to a busy month I think.

Supervising a Birthday

It is not easy supervising.
Day in and day out I am telling others what to do.

It's my gift.

Today, I had to make sure that everything went right for my mommy's birthday. In human years, she is 25. I wanted some simple gifts for her, a cake, champagne, and a nice dinner. Since the man of the house is likely to forget she has a birthday, I left him some clues. I carved a heart in his leg while he was sleeping...no response, but a little messy. I decided I had to be more "direct", so I just ordered some books from Amazon. When they arrived the following week, the male human signed for the UPS package, shrugged, and said, "I'm good!"

The activities of the day included me making a list for daddy, keeping my sister, Blackberry, out of trouble, deciding where to go for dinner, chilling the champagne, cooking the cake, decorating the cake, and, finally, the gifts.

While Tom, the man of the house, was getting the cake supplies, I was power napping. I put some Benadryl in Blackberry's food and she seems to be sleeping soundly.

So, I was still tired and groggy from my nap, so I had my sister, Blackberry, make the cake and frost it. I instructed her to make a double decker cake. I tried to tell her the proper way to do it, but it looked horrible! That's what happens when you don't do it yourself!

I had to jump down from my cat tower and finish the cake.

I chose a nice place for the humans to eat dinner in nearby Santa Maria. It was an American cuisine with a Louisiana twist. The place was called Chef Ricks. I found out about this place from my friend Lars who is a band called Metallica. Here's a picture with him and the Chef.
The humans arrived home after dark sometime. It was time for the party!

Cake was eaten, champagne was drank, then it was time to open gifts. My mommy got two books and a cards from all of us.

It was a tough day for me but it was worth it...Happy Birthday Mommy!

All Moved In

We are all moved in (except for a couple of book boxes). But those will be tackled this weekend. Today marks the end of the first week of graduate school for Mommy. I think she likes it but she spends lots of time in the Study room reading books. I guess its back to the school grind. I remember all the studying she did for her undergraduate aerospace engineering degree. Blackberry does not know what she is doing. She always tries to help Mommy relax. Last night she sat on Mommy's shoulders and kneaded her neck while Mommy was reading. It did not seem to help much. But I will teach her the best way to help is to sit on the computer/papers/books that are being used.

It is nice to have a house with stairs to play in. Blackberry was scared of them at first and did not know how to use them. Since I am an expert I showed her how to race up and down them playing Thundering Herd of Elephants. It is fun to play when all the lights in the house are off! I also taught her how to sit on a stair in the mornings and wait for Daddy to walk down them. He gets scared all the time. Mommy knows not to walk down the stairs when Berry or I are there. Daddy's not so smart. Hehehe.

We are glad that our family in Houston is OK from IKE. Bad, scary IKE. Our family did not have power for a week, but other than minor damage everything is OK. If you want to check out IKE's wrath with our family you can go to my Mommy's DAD's blog. And Mommy's sister just set up her FIRST BLOG. No kitties, but maybe a puppy in the near future. we will have to see.

When the house is cleaned this weekend I will post pics of our new place. I am sure you will love it!

Almost Move Time

Well...the time has almost come to move. The moving truck arrives tomorrow and the parents will pack everything up and then leave the next morning. Everything in the house that can go in a box has been boxed up. The best thing about this is the love seat in the living room as been turned up on its side to make room for all the boxes! this has created a great playground for me and Blackberry. It has become Blackberry's favorite sleeping spot. As always I will have to be the supervisor tomorrow during the loading of the U-Haul truck. We will post new pictures of our new house. I have been told that it has stairs! I can't wait to test them out at 2am.

Well....it finally happened. My feeders got married. They left is at home for 2 weeks while they went to Sonoma and got married at a winery. Then they went to Maui on a honeymoon. I can't believe they didn't take us with them! Now we are all going to have to change our last name to Johnson. And we are a whole family. They just got back from Maui so I am going to go cuddle. Hey everyone. I had a great birthday yesterday. Can you believe I am 3 years old? Its crazy! I was so busy playing with my new toys that I didn't have time to blog. I know...its sinful. I got a new catnip mousie and new balls to play with. they are lots of fun. Too bad I have to share them with my sister Berry. Hey Everyone. Sorry I have not blogged in a long time. My writers have been really busy with stuff. But Blackberry and I are doing very well. It was Valentine's Day yesterday and we had the best day. Daddy gave us 'nip mice for a present. They are fun to carry around. Daddy also gave Mommy some flowers, a balloon and a card. Blackberry likes to eat the flower petals. I just think they are stinky roses. I prefer my 'nip mice. This weekend Mommy and Daddy are abandoning us to go spend the week in Tahoe. I think it is unfair. Just because I do not like snow that much does not mean I should be left at home with Blackberry. Oh well. At least I will have someone to play with. I will tell you all about Tahoe when they get back. They are leaving tomorrow afternoon. I have to go help Mommy pack! I know she always likes my 'Help'.

4. and to get Zoe to share the top of the cat tower with me. (Zoe says 'Never gona happen')

Christmas is coming!! Tis the season for lots of work Christmas parties. Mommy and Daddy are going to a Christmas party tonight and tomorrow night. Tonight they are going to the apartment complex Christmas party and tomorrow they are going to Daddy's work Christmas party. I hope they bring us back presents. We need 3 more mice and 5 more balls to play with. I mean the 50 toys we have now is n0t enough!

I think we are getting a Christmas tree this year. It will be fun to watch Blackberry climb the tree. It will be her 1st Christmas. I will have to tell her everything she needs to know for the Christmas season. Knock all the breakable ornaments off the tree....try to climb to the top without the tree falling over (and without mommy and daddy catching you)....beg for lots of turkey on Christmas day...look cute playing in the Christmas wrapping paper...you know stuff like that. t is going to be a great season!

Wine Country Weekend

Mommy and Daddy went to the Sonoma wine region this weekend. They had a great time. It was Daddy's birthday on Saturday and he had a good day. They left Blackberry and me at home for 2 whole days! I couldn't believe it. They did leave us 3 bowls of dry food, 1 of wet and 2 bowls of water. Luckily, Blackberry left me some food to eat. I had a boring weekend and I couldn't wait for them to come home. She eats a ton of food. But Mommy and Daddy came home today and fed us dinner and played with us for hours so I feel better. They went to the wine valley this weekend to check out caterers for their wedding next year. here are some pics from this weekend and last weekend.

Sorry I have not blogged in a while. I have had a hard time getting mommy and daddy to sit down and do it for me. But now I am sitting on the computer making them type for me. Paws are a little hindrance in typing. But although we have not blogged in a long time, we have taken lots of pictures. Here are some.

Dry Rub Success

Spices rubbed into meat, left to do its thing for a while, then cooked.

I have learned that the success to a dry rub is brown sugar. I used to just rub the spices into the meat and hope for the best. Now I mix the spices at least half-and-half with brown sugar and let the magic happen.

Here's a mixture of the following stuff:

paprika
garlic powder
salt
onion powder
chili powder
chili flakes
turmeric
cumin

Mix a tablespoon of this with a tablespoon of brown sugar and you've got Rub Magic.

Spread it on neat and you've got Salty Nastiness.

Here's what it looks like after an hour or so of resting in the fridge:

Of course, if you don't want to risk making your own rub, check out the professionals like my friend Shane of Payne County.

Here's his stuff which he recommends cutting with brown sugar. Like the Stones said, brown sugar.

Blackberry is helping Mommy and Daddy put together the puzzle. This is one of the only times she has been good around the puzzle. She likes to pick up a piece and run away with it. Mommy was luckily that there was only 1 piece missing at the end. I think Blackberry is settling in nicely.

Blackberry and I are exploring the pantry. Since she is younger and smaller so she cannot climb as high as me. (Mommy says its because I whack her every time she tries, but I think it is because she is very little.) Here is Blackberry and Mommy. Blackberry likes to sleep on Mommy.
Now Blackberry and I are leaning stuff. Mommy and Daddy may not be smarter than a 5th grader, but Blackberry and I certainly are.
If you look closely at the top of the picture, we is trying to catch a big moth.
See!! I am a good big sister. I let Blackberry have a 1/4 of the cat tower to sleep on. And I am not trying to kick her off...no matter what it looks like.

Sisters and Birthdays

I hadn't realized that I have not posted in a long time. Lots has gone on in the past few weeks. As everyone knows I have a new baby sister. I am liking her more now. She knows I am boss and does what I say. In fact last night I was chewing on a plastic bag in the hall and when Mommy came to see what was going on I hid in the bathroom while Blackberry got yelled at. Having a little sister has its perks! It was Mommy's birthday last Saturday (Sept 29). She turned 24. Blackberry, Daddy and I made sure she had a good birthday.

The new kitten and I are getting along better. I really didn't mind her coming because she makes a great chase toy. Hahaha. I will post lots of pictures of Blackberry and me. I have to go now but I promise that I will post again really soon.

We finally did it. We got a new kitten. We had been thinking about this for some time and decided that when we were all moved in and Zoe was settled we would get her a little brother or sister to play with. So today we went kitten shopping. At our third place we found the perfect one. A little black kitten with a great personality. After spending 30 minutes with her getting to know her and many discussions about how she would interact with Zoe, we adopted her. We adopted her from Katmom, which is a pet rescue group. We named our new girl Blackberry. There are some pictures below of Blackberry and Zoe. They are getting along great so far. Zoe just follows Blackberry around and Blackberry is exploring everything.

Well we have arrived in Caly-forn-yah. Today we drove from Phoenix all the way to Rocklin, CA. It was very long. Now that I am in my new house I have to explore lots. I am movin tomorrow. At least that is what my mommy keeps telling me. My daddy is coming to visit tonight and then we are all going to get into the blue car and drive to Caly-forn-yah. Mommy says that it is going to be a very looooong drive. And that she will have to sneak me into the hotels at night. I am not too sure what "hotels" are but if I have to be sneaked into them I guess they are cool places to go explore. We'll see. Anyway, mommy says that we are going to see Julie on this trip. I can't wait to see Julie. She is the other hooman that I lived with for the past 2 years. I hope she lets me go into her room!! Mommy keeps telling me that this is going to be a 4 day drive. My mommy told me a few days ago that we are going to move to Calyfornyah. I do not know what Calyfornyah is but my mommy said that there were lots an lots of birdies there so I can't wait to go. I really like birdies. She also said that Tom is in Calyfornyah. I like Tom alot so I guess I will move with my mommy. I may have to make sum rules for my mommy to follow though. She can't just move me without rules!!! I will have to think about these rules. I will post them later so my mommy can follow them...an so others can make sure mommy follows them.

We are gona move in 1 month. I am glad that I am moving because then Kink won't be able to sit on me. Yesterday we was playing in the kitchen and he tried to bite my belly. Luckily I have lots an lots of fur so he only got a mouthful of fur, but when I tried to walk away he didn't let go. I dragged him across the kitchen with him biting my belly fur. Then I had to smack him to leave me alone. All my mommy did was laugh. I did not think it was very funny. Kink can be such a kitten sometimes. He is almost 10 months old. He should know better by now. I guess I will just have to smack him more to knock some sense into him. The bad part about moving is that I won't have a play buddy an no more stairs. Maybe I can convince my mommy to go get me another play buddy when we got to Calyfornyah. This may take some planning..... Anyways, I will keep everyone updated on the moving plans. If there are any kitties, or woofies, in Calyfornyah please tell me what it is like.

Hello Again

Hey everyone, kitties and himans alike. Sorry I have not blogged in such a long time. I have been really, really busy. Fist I have had to teach Kink not to sit on me. He is getting better, except when he is really excited, then he sits on me and I have to start all over with the teaching. Second, my mommy Sarah has been really busy with her new job. I make sure to greet her everyday when she gets home and listen to how her day went. Thats a tough job because there is a lot going on at her work. I just can't keep up sometimes, but i always make sure that I purr for her to make her feel better when she has a bad day at work. Sarah also left me again last week. She said she was only going to be gone for 5 days, but I was still worried. I made sure to search the house on the 4th day just to make sure she hadn't been hiding somewhere. When she came home everyone was excited to see her. Me especially. Like a good mommy she said HI to me first and petted me lots and lots. I was very happy she came home. She even let me go out into the garage. She went to California for the 4th of July to visit Tom. I like Tom so I was not too mad at her for leaving me. When she came back from her trip she had a funny sparkly thingy on her finger. I tried to get it off by scratching my face on it but it was still very sparkly. She told me that Tom and her got engaged over the weekend. i did not know what 'engaged' meant so I was a little worried. She said that it meant that Tom will be living with us forever. Since I like Tom alot and I love my mommy I think engaged is good. My mommy is very happy and talks to Tom everyday. I guess Tom is now my daddy. He kinda was already since he rescued me from a bad house and gave me to mommy. I will have to sneak onto the other computer to get pictures for everyone to see. But I can't do that now because the computer is closed. I have to wait for the humans to open it for me and then leave it unattended. Pictures will be comming.

To Houston We Go

Over the hills, through the woods, to the Houston House we go. Again!! This is the third time I have been to Houston in the past 6 months. I do not mind really becuase I like to play there and there is tons of running room. Sarah says that we will be here for the whole summer. I don't think it will be too bad. The car ride down was scary though. It was thunderstorming and I did not have a bed to hide under. I had to sit on Sarah's lap to feel safe. We finally made it to Houston and I find out that the kitten Kink is still there. He was new when I visited in March and I was hoping he would have left by now. Apparently they are keeping him. I don't mind him usually, except he likes to SIT on ME. I do not like it when he sits on me. He is still a kitten so I am giving him some leeway, but sometimes I just have to whack him! I like the house in Houston because it is very big. I can run around all day!! Sarah also plays with me alot (when she is not lifting Kink off me). Also Sarah is staying here all sumemr because she has a job thingy here in Houston. Some Boeing company or something. After the summer she says that we will be moving into a new appartment. It is smaller, but it is on the ground floor so I will be able to go outside more. i like to go outside. It's where the birdies are. Now that Kink went outside I am going to go get something to eat. it is always easier to eat when he is outside becuase he can't sit on me. At least I will have a play buddy all summer.

Tom Comes

Tom comes tonight. He hasn't come to visit in a long time. I can't wait to see him. He always plays with me alot. Sarah plays with me too, Tom just acts like a cat when he plays. Sometimes he chases my balls and I watch him chase them. It is really funny when he does that. Maybe I will let him play with my new mouse. I spent the week in Houston a few weeks ago and Kink, the new kitten in Houston, had a really cool mousie. I played with it all week. I was sad to leave the mousie behind when I came back to Kansas with Sarah and her friends. But guess what!! Sarah's daddy gave her a mousie for me!! Now I have my own mousie to play with. It is really cool. I throw him up in the air and catch him in my paws. Then i bite him until he stops moving. Maybe I will let Tom play wih my new mousie, if he promises not to hurt it. I can't wait to see Tom. It is going to be a fun weekend.

Today is my birthday. I am 2 years old. Yay!! I have had a very good birthday this year. Sarah was at home almost all day and we played ball and chase and Sarah let me go out on the deck for a long time to watch the birdies. There are lots of birdies outside now because it is getting warmer. I have been getting lots of attention today. Although I get lots of attention everyday, but everyone keeps telling me "Happy Birthday." I also got to have my favorite food for dinner....Beef and Gravy! I am still not quite sure what this birthday thing is, but I like it. I hope it comes again next year. Now that I am older I can do more grownup things. Like going outside without supervision. Although Sarah stands by the door watching me. I like being 2, even if Sarah and Tom say that I am still their baby. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

Fabulous February

I like the month of February. Tons of stuff happens. There was the super bowl (my team won by the way), then theres this Valentines Day thing. I know what this is because I remember this day last year. Last but not least February is the month of my birthday!! February 28th to be exact. I should start planning my party. Every kitten has to have a party. I will be 2 this year.

Anyway...I really liekd the super bowl. Tom, my other feeder, and Sarah had a bet going on who was to win. Tom always chooses the bad teams, the Bears. The bet was that he had to send Sarah 3 dozen flowers if his team lost! When they got here I helped Sarah cut them and put them in vases. There are so many different colors. Some are yellow others are pink, and some have two colors! There are purple ones also, my favorite. They smell funny though. I don't know why Tom always thinks he is going to win. His team never beats Sarah's team.

Valentine's Day is this week. I like Valentine's Day because Tom always comes to visit. I like it when Tom comes to visit because he plays with me all the time. When Sarah is at school Tom is home to play with me. I hope he buys me a toy. He always does. Sarah keeps telling him that I have enough toys, but he doesn't listen to her. Tom comes on Thursday. I can't wait!

Snowy Wednesday

It snowed today. I woke up this morning and the ground was white and stuff was falling from the sky. Sarah said that it was snow. I said that I knew it was snow because I have seen snow before. I am not a kitten anymore. Sheesh!! It is fun watching the snow fall. It snowed all day long. Sarah had to leave for school early because she said that the roads will be bad and that all the crazy drivers will be out. I guess crazy drivers only drive when it is snowing, or at Christmas time. When Sarah got home from school she was cold so I did my part and sat on her lap for a long time to help her warm up. Then Julie came up and said that I should enjoy the snow. I did not want to enjoy the snow because it is very, very cold outside. She picked me up and out me outside on the deck. I must admit that I do like the snow. It is really cool how it melts when you touch it. I played put on the deck in the snow for a while. Until I got cold. Then I went back inside. Sarah and Julie left the door open just enough for me to squeeze inside. Now I plan to enjoy a toasty warm evening inside with Sarah.

Home Again

Well..I am back in Kansas, my home. I have been home for about a week now. Sarah keeps saying that "school" has started, whatever that means. I have to get back into the old grind. Sarah's apartment is much smaller than her summer house, so I do not have much room to run. I liked the stairs in the summer house. I will get used to the apartment again. I do miss Sandy. He was my playmate in Houston. We would chase each other every morning. Now I just sleep with Sarah in the morning and play chase with my toys when she gets home from school. She keeps saying that this semester will be much better than last semester. I do not know what a semester is but she is at home much more now than "last semester." I am glad that I am home. It is tiring traveling. I will keep everyone posted on my activities this semester. I should have more time at the computer since Sarah will be home most of the time. (She leaves the computer on for me).

It is all white outside. Sarah says that is because it has snowed. I can't wait for the Spring because all the birdies come back to Kansas. Sarah likes the snow, and I do too, but there are no birdies. I have to resort to watching the little doggies outside on their walks. Lucky for me I can watch them from the warmth of my house, while they are freezing outside. Silly doggies.

Houston for Christmas

I am in Houston now. Getting to Houston this time was different though. Usually Sarah pick me up ad puts me in the car and we drive forever until she says we are in Houston. Houston must be a long way away from Kansas. This time she put me in a new, softer carrier and Julie took us to someplace called the "airport." They kept telling me that I was going to "fly" and that I had to be good. I did not know what "fly" meant, but I was curious about the "airport" part.

The airport had lots of people. Sarah had to take me out of my carrier for a while my carrier went through this funny machine. I looked all around the airport and tried to see everything. When my carrier came back I went into it without any fuss because lots of people were talking to me and it was kind of scary. Then Sarah and I got on an airplane and flew to Houston, or so Sarah said. Sarah said that I was very good because I just sat in my carrier and did not make a sound. I did try to escape a few times when Sarah opened the carrier a little to see me. I was not successful in my escape. The Houston airport had many more people than Kansas.

Then I went into another car for a short while and we arrived at Sarah's summer home. I like this home because Sandy is there and he likes to play with me, after he gets used to me of course. I was glad to not be traveling anymore. I had some dinner, checked out the house again to make sure that everything was where I left it in the summer and settled down for a nap.

Sarah and her family left me and Sandy for Christmas. They said that they were going to the Caribbean and that I would not like it there. She will be back in a few days though. I am not worried. Now I will be able to explore more and Sandy and I can play all day without any interruptions. I think I will go grab a snack before I go see if Sandy is awake. I am sure I can convince him to play with me.....

See, when Sarah tries to do her homework, which is all the time, she ignores me. So, I have devised a plan.

I will plop my furry body right in the middle of her work. See I am the princess of the house and I must be, I will be the center of of the world.

So, her homework last night seemed simple enough. An hour at most and she'd go to bed. but, see I am in charge of the house, so, I decided she should take three hours instead. I plopped on the work, laid on the computer keyboard, knocked over things, and meowed loudly when she looked deep in thought.

I almost succeeded at it, then Sarah put out Beef with Gravy food. Now what was I doing?

Sleepy Sunday

I love Sundays. Sundays are the day to just relax in the sun on the bed. I can stay on the bed in the sun sleeping all day. This is good because my feeder Sarah has been really busy this semester. She does not spend a lot of time at home, which makes me sad. She does make sure that I have food and that all my toys are not under the chairs so I can play with them when she is gone. When she comes home she is always talking about her airplane design class and how much work time it takes up. She always plays with me when she gets home though. Even if it is 3am! Sundays are the best day of the week because she spends it at home with me. She usually works on her computer all day but I help her with her work by sleeping behind the computer. It is really warm behind the computer. I love sleeping there. It is also easy for Sarah to pet me when I sleep there. I do not sleep all day in the sun on the bed. I take some time to check out the shower to make sure all the water has gone down the hole, and I play with my tower and string and balls. Sarah always takes a break to play ball with me. Sarah always says that everything will be better in December. I do not know what "December" means but I can't wait. I wish everyday was Sunday.

Home Sweet Home!

Zoe will tell you that 14 hours in a car is no fun, although the hightlight of the trip from Houston to Lawrence, Kansas was a stopover in that Fun Texas Town: Allen! Dinner at the Two Rows was outstanding even though Zoe slept through the whole thing.

The best part of the trip was perching on the back of the driver's seat and singing 100 Bottles of Beer. It goes like this. "Meowwwwww!" Repeat 100 times.

All right, it's sack time, now. Too much singing wipes me out!

Summer Vacation

I am in Houston. It is very warm here. Much warmer than Kansas. I am going to be spending the summer here at my summer house. My feeder Sarah has been telling me that she has a job in Washington D.C with someone called Boeing and that I am going to spend the summer with her parents in Houston. My human toy Tom also has a 'job' but it is California so I cannot go with him for the sumer either.

I have been at my summer house for a week now and I have to say that I am enjoying it very much. There is lots of room to run around and play and it comes with two other cats to play with, Sandy and Nobbs. Nobbs likes to play outside, where I am not allowed, but Sandy is inside most of the time and I can pllay with him, when he's not sleeping. I think that I am going to have fun here. There is this one human, Sarah calls him Dad, that must think I like to be poked because every time he sees me he pokes me. I don't think it will be like this all summer.....................I hope. Well, at least he plays with me after he bugs me. I will miss Sarah and Tom this summer, but I do like my summer house!

Zoe is spending the summer in Houston, Texas with friend cats Sandy and Nobbs. (Assuming Nobbs ever shows up!)

So far the digs are good. Regular food, water and chasing around the house. Mostly, Zoe sleeps.

Today it rained all day and even the birds were hunkered down. A good day for sleeping, Zoe's specialty. Tomorrow, rain/sleep is in the forecast but this weekend the outlook is running amok, chasing string, tormenting birds and being held upside down which is a marginal activity at best.

Things have been a bit boring lately. I eat, sleep, play, and, you guessed it, eat, sleep, play.

I was taken to my spring break home in Missouri today. I hate riding in cars, but I learned to deal with it since I am a mature one year old now.

Today something really exciting happened! A dog named Daisy came to visit me. I have never met a dog this big. She is very friendly, but scary (see picture). I hope that she doesn't always come over and eat my food. I had saved some Mixed Grill food for later, but Daisy ate it all. I will be sharpening my claws till next time I see her.

It looks like I am stuck in Missouri, (home of many tornadoes) for a few weeks. I do get to see a lot of birds here, so my daytime is filled with naps and bird watching.
